Oman- Water Supply and Conveyance System to Muscat and Quriyat from Wadi Dayqah Dam

Brief Description of the Project :

Construction of two dams is in progress in Wadi Dayqah, Mazara Region, at about 100 km distance to the Capital Muscat. The dams will supply potable water and irrigation water. One of the dams is of RCC type, 72,00 m high from foundation and the other is a Rock Fill type dam 42,00 m high from foundation.

Associated project structures are as follows;

A water supply reservoir with main and saddle dams, located on the Wadi Dayqah at Mazara,

Main conveyance line to irrigation areas Hayl Al Ghaf and Daghmar (in the downstream of dams) in Mazara,

Service water pumping station comprising 4 duty + 1 standby pumps 1.45 m³/s in total capacity and 97m in pressure head to pump water to Water Treatment Plant from reservoir,

Water treatment plant (WTP) with a design capacity of 105 000 m³/day

Water conveyance line, consisting of the following components and 1.45 m³/s in overall capacity, to Muscat, Quriyat and users in the downstream,

• Steel pipe Ø1200 mm in diameter and 36 000 m in total length,
• Steel pipe Ø1100 mm in diameter and 51 300 m in total length,
• Ductile iron pipe Ø600 mm in diameter and 10 000 m in total length,
• Ductile iron pipe Ø550 mm in diameter and 15 000 m in total length,
• Ductile iron pipe Ø450 mm in diameter and 4 500 m in total length,
• Ductile iron pipe Ø350 mm in diameter and 10 000 m in total length.

Booster Pump Station comprising 4 duty + 1 standby pumps, 1.45 m³/s in total capacity and 210m in pressure head,

3 nos. RC water reservoirs, 20 000 m³ and 2 x 11 000 m³ in capacity.

Scope of Services :

• Final and Detail design of all project structures,
• Civil works tender documentation according to FIDIC conditions,
• Support to the Client during tender process,
• Project management and co-ordination,
• Construction supervision and commissioning services.
