İzmir Light Rail System Stage 6, Karabağlar - Gaziemir Line

Brief Description of the Project:

The İzmir Light Rail System 6^th Stage Karabağlar-Gaziemir Line, included in the 2030 Izmir Transportation Master Plan, was planned by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality to provide solutions to traffic problems in the city, reduce vehicle traffic load in the city, and further develop the light rail transportation system, which is increasing the number of lines and passengers.

It is aimed to provide transportation between the central districts of İzmir, Menderes, Gaziemir, Karabağlar, Konak, Buca and especially to provide access to the city center of the southern regions.

The project includes a 32.60 km long NATM and TBM (R=6.50m) double tube tunnel; 24 underground stations (10 nos. of 160m long Cut-Cover type and 14 nos. of 231m long bored tunnel type) and a depot and workshop with a capacity of 150 vehicles.

The entire project route is underground, except for the depot area.

Main Line: Starts from Menderes Station at km: 0+000 and ends at Halkapınar Station at km: 26+409. 23 stations and 1 depot area are planned.

Konak Line: Planned as a double tube and starts at Km: 0+000, the branching off at General Asım Gündüz Station area at Km: 19+500 of the Main Line, and ends at Konak Station at Km: 2+709. 1 underground station is planned on this line.

1 depot area on the main line is planned, and a total of 3328 m single tube tunnel with a length of 1628 m and 1700 m providing access to the depot area at Km: 9+525 and Km: 12+800 is designed.

The project includes a Depot and Workshop Area with a capacity of 150 vehicles. Services were also provided for the preparation of designs for a rooftop solar energy system to meet the building's electricity needs on the roof of the Depot and Vehicle Maintenance Workshop and on the train parking area.
