Elazığ - Behramaz Basin and Hazar Diversion Channel Master Plan Report

Brief Description of the Project:

The project area is in the Hazar-Behramaz Sub-Basin, which is the 5th Sub-Basin of the Dicle Sub-Basin, and is located within the borders of Elazığ province, Central, Maden and Sivrice districts.

A. Behramaz Basin Master Plan Works

The "Behramaz Basin Master Plan Report" was prepared in order to improve the water and soil resources in the Elazığ -Maden Behramaz Basin and in order to ensure that the existing and adaptive facilities in the basin that can benefit from these sources are built and operated accordingly and completely.

B. Hatunköy Dam Drinking Water and Irrigation Works

28.76 hm³ of 59.29 hm³ of the drinking water requirement of Elazığ province central district in 2060 will be met with the water to be taken from the Hatunköy Dam located in the Behramaz basin. In addition, 715 hectares of 934 hectares of agricultural land located downstream of Hatunköy Dam will be irrigated by gravity and 219 hectares by pumping with medium and high pressure piped irrigation system.

Studies were conducted in two phases.

1. Interim Report

Data collection, inventory and design formulation studies for the specified works within the scope of the contract were carried out at this phase. The following reports were prepared within the scope of Behramaz Basin Master Plan Interim Report and Hatunköy Dam Drinking Water and Irrigation Revised Planning Interim Report.

2. Planning Report

After obtaining approval of the interim reports by State Hdyraulic Works (DSİ), the sub-discipline reports prepared within the scope of the interim report and the above-mentioned sub-discipline reports were worked on to the planning level, and the “Behramaz Basin Master Plan Report” and the “Hatunköy Dam Drinking Water and Irrigation Revised Planning Report” were prepared. An EIA Report was prepared for Hatunköy Dam, Drinking Water and Irrigation facilities, and an affirmative EIA Certificate was obtained after obtaining affirmative EIA decision by the relevant institution.
