Ankara Şereflikoçhisar Peçenek Dam Irrigation Planning Revision and Detail Design Services

Brief Description of the Project :

Project area covers the cultivated lands extending to Şereflikoçhisar county seat and the Salt Lake from Peçenek Dam under construction on the Peçenek Stream in about 15 km southwest of Şereflikoçhisar sub-province of Ankara province. Based on Planning Revision studies, irrigation water will be supplied to an area of gross 1410 ha further to providing drinking and municipal water requirement of Şereflikoçhisar county seat until the year 2045.

Planning Revision Services

The planning report, prepared by DSI in 1999, was revised to cover both the drinking water supply and irrigations, taking into consideration the conditions changed in the course of time. Revised planning studies were performed in two phases, namely the Interim Report phase and Planning Report phase.

The Interim Report phase comprised preparation of the Engineering Hydrology Report, Agricultural Economy and Land Acquisition Planning Report, Water Use Rights Report, Peçenek Project Water Treatment Plant Site Ground Surveys Report and Drinking and Municipal Water Requirement Report and mapping studies. The Interim Report comprising studies on all alternatives for final project formulation was submitted to DSI for approval. Detailed planning studies were proceeded with following approval of the Interim Report.

The second phase, i.e. Planning Report phase, comprised revision of the Dam Reservoir Area and Irrigation Primary Lines Land Acquisition Planning Report and updating the BoQs. Based on optimization studies, it was proposed in the Planning Report that the 391 ha land, referred to as Unit I, on both banks of Peçenek Stream should be irrigated by medium-pressure piped system and the 1019 ha land on Şereflikoçhisar plain, referred to as Unit II, should be irrigated by high-pressure piped system. Şereflikoçhisar county seat urban population in the year 2045 is estimated to be 65142 based on population projection study. Planning revision services included design of conveyance line about 12,5 km in length to convey 7,41 hm³/year water to the town from Peçenek Dam to meet the requirement of this population. Along the conveyance line, 1/1000 – scale topographical maps were produced and geological conditions on the conveyance line route were defined.

The “Şereflikoçhisar Peçenek Project Revised Planning Report” comprising all studies on technical and economical feasibility of the project, was approved by DSI on April 1, 2009.

Detail Design

Based on the approved Revised Planning Report, detail design services comprised design of irrigation network (conveyance line, primary, secondary, tertiary canals) on total 1410 ha irrigation area; drainage network  (primary, secondary, tertiary) and all associated engineering structures; Peçenek Dam – Water Treatment Plant raw water conveyance line and river improvement structures under the project.
