Preparation of Wastewater and Stormwater Separation Projects in Various Roads and Streets of Çiğli, Karşıyaka and Bayraklı Districts of İzmir Province

Brief Description of the Project :

The scope of the project comprises the design of 75 km Wastewater Channel, 200 km Stormwater Channel, 8 Pumping Stations, 5 Stormwater Holding Tank for Various Roads and Streets of Çiğli, Karşıyaka and Bayraklı Districts of İzmir Province and preparation of Geotechnical Survey Reports.

Within the approximately 60 km² (6,000 ha) basin covering all neighborhoods of Çiğli and Karşıyaka districts of İzmir Province and Soğukkuyu, Postacılar, Emek, Yamanlar, Org. Nafiz Gürman, Doğançay, Gümüşpala, Körfez and Onur Districts of Bayraklı district, the hydraulic capacities of existing lines are being investigated and stormwater catchment system designs are being prepared.

With the project, all stormwater grids currently connected to the sewerage system will be connected to the planned stormwater lines, thus ensuring separation of wastewater and stormwater catchment systems. In this way, the excessive flow load on the wastewater treatment plant during rainy weather will be reduced. In addition, the stormwater catchment system of the region was redesigned with 8 stormwater pump stations with a capacity of 5,000 to 10,000 l/s and 5 stormwater delay tanks with a storage volume of 1,000 m³.  Since proper discharge cannot be provided to the seas and streams whose water levels rise in rainy weather, the flood and ponding problems seen in the streets will be solved with the new designed stormwater catchment system.

Within the project work area determined as the scope of work, hydraulic investigations were carried out in a total of 140,814 m of existing main collector sewer lines with a diameter of Ø400 mm and above.

Map and ground survey studies will be carried out in accordance with the sewerage and stormwater planning studies, and all detail designs of wastewater and stormwater channels, pump stations and stormwater delay tanks, preparation of quantity surveys and bill of quantities and technical specifications for the construction tender will be carried out.
