Tokat-Kazova Left and Right Bank Irrigations Renewal Project

Brief Description of the Project:

Project Location:

The project area starts from Gümenek Regulator in the east of Tokat, continues along the right and left banks of the Yeşilırmak riverbed, including the city center of Tokat, until Turhal in the north and ends in Tatlıcak Village at the 37th kilometer of the Tokat-Amasya highway in the south.

Current situation:

Currently, irrigation is provided through the Right Bank Main Canal and the Left Bank Main Canal, as well as the spare canals starting from the Gümenek Weir. As the facilities, which were put into operation in 1945 and transferred to irrigation unions in 1995, serve as open canals, water losses are high. The increase in operation-maintenance costs over time and the inability to transmit sufficient water to the canals in dry periods have also reduced irrigation efficiency. The switch to a modern irrigation system that is compatible with emerging technologies and avoids water losses while having high irrigation efficiency has become necessary due to the steadily rising economic losses. Renovation projects will be prepared to rehabilitate the system and to remove the current drawbacks.

Aim of the Project:

By providing the transition from an open-channel irrigation system to an economical piped network, it is aimed to prevent water losses by rehabilitating the irrigation network according to the closed irrigation system, to reduce maintenance-repair costs, increasing irrigation efficiency, to provide irrigation interval between normal periods by reducing the water load of the main lines due to the inability to transmit enough water during drought periods, and to increase the irrigation rate by preventing possible or existing deficient irrigation

Within the scope of the project, design services for Irrigation and Drainage Network and engineering structures according to the detailed design will be provided.

• Kazova Right and Left Bank Irrigation Area: gross 20 485 ha (gravity)
• Kazova Right and Left Bank Irrigation Area: gross 536 ha (pumped) (Oğulcuk 192 ha, Ulaş 287 ha, Bakışlı 57 ha)
• Kazova Right and Left Bank Irrigation Area – Main Irrigation Pipeline: 102 840 m
• Kazova Right and Left Bank Irrigation Area – Auxiliary and Tertiary Pipeline: 205 995 m
• Kazova Right and Left Bank Irrigation Area - Irrigation Engineering Structures
• Oğulcuk Pumped Irrigation: 2 main and 1 backup horizontal multistage pumps, 315 kW electric motor in each pump and other necessary valves and regulation ponds are planned. The total length of the irrigation pipelines is 3939 m. The pipe type of the network is PE100, and the pipe diameters vary between 710 mm and 250 mm.
• Ulaş Pumped Irrigation: The total length of irrigation pipelines is 5390 m. The pipe type of the network is PE100 and GRP, and pipe diameters vary between 800 mm and 250 mm.
• Operation Maintenance and Service Roads: The operation, maintenance and service roads planned adjacent to the Right Bank Main Pipeline and the Left Bank Main Pipeline are 20 626 m in total.
