Marmara Region Earthquake Housing Project

Brief Description of the Project:

The services under the project included design, construction supervision and consultancy services for 2940 Permanent Housing Units in Kocaeli, Gölcük and Körfez residential areas affected by the earthquake in the zone between Bolu and Istanbul on August 17, 1999 and November 12, 1999.

Design services included;

• Geological and geotechnical ground investigations (1.892,66 m borehole drilling),
• City Development Plan implementation services
  (on 5 different sites covering some 164,34 ha)
• Preliminary, final and detail design of housing units (architectural, civil, electrical and mechanical design), and
• General layout plan.

Additional services included;

• Design of infrastructure: Roads, drinking water supply, wastewater networks, LV/MV electrical network and telephone network
• MEER Project city development plan implementation services
• Preparation of base maps (78.80 ha)

Construction Supervision Services included;

• Stage I Supervision Services: for 2142 flats in 249 blocks on total 260.214 m² constructed by 8 different contractors
• Stage II Supervision Services: for 798 flats in 93 blocks on total 97.817m² constructed by 5 different contractors.
