Contract for the “Dicle Sub-Basin Master Plan” is signed. 1 June 2026

The contract for the "Dicle Sub-Basin Master Plan" project, tendered by the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSİ), Department of Surveys, Planning and Allocations, is signed on June 1, 2026.

The scope of the project involves the preparation of the "Dicle Sub-Basin Master Plan" on the basis of the Dicle Sub-Basin—one of Turkiye's 25 river basins—taking water basin boundaries as the essential framework in order to protect our natural resources and plan their sustainable use.

The Dicle Sub-Basin covers all and/or parts of the provinces of Van, Bitlis, Muş, Bingöl, Elâzığ, Diyarbakır, Mardin, Batman, Siirt, Şırnak, and Hakkâri.

The objective of this project is to:

Update the water potential, water quality, land-use status, water consumption, and demands of the current Basin Master Plan, using remote sensing technologies;

Demonstrate the balance between resources and demands under current conditions, development scenarios, and the impacts of climate change;

Analyze—at a master plan level—the technical, economic, and environmental feasibility, as well as the methods to meet additional demands, in cases where potential and extra requirements are identified and need to be fulfilled.
