Kürtün Dam & HEPP
Gümüşhane - Turkey
Kürtün Dam & HEPP, on the Harşit Creek within Gümüşhane province, was constructed by DSI for energy generation in the period 1986-2002 and put in operation in the year 2003. The dam designed to be a clay-core rock fill dam and for which tender documents were issued by DSI in 1986, required design revision when a major flood event occurred in 1990, after completion of diversion tunnels Design revisions, e.g. revision of spillway and dam embankment types due to increased spillway capacity, and the HEPP revised to be an underground plant etc, were performed on the basis of DSI approval. Kürtün HEPP is connected via 154 kV, 1272 MCM to Akköy TS-Torul HEPP ETL (TAP). Dam design characteristics;
