Brief Description of the Project:

Project areas partly comprise the lands in Pamukova and Serdivan sub-provinces of Sakarya province in Pazarlar sub-province of Kütahya province and in Söğüt sub-province of Bilecik province.

The project structures are as follows;

Sakarya – Pamukova – Çilekli Lagoon & Irrigation: Gross 266 ha arable land will be irrigated by the lagoon of homogenous-fill type and 35 m in height from foundation.

Sakarya – Pamukova – Kemaliye (Deveboynu) Lagoon & Irrigation: Gross 166 ha arable land will be irrigated by the lagoon of homogenous-fill type and 30 m in height from foundation.

Sakarya – Pamukova – Turgutlu Lagoon & Irrigation: Gross 334 ha arable land will be irrigated by the lagoon of homogenous-fill type and 37 m in height from foundation.

Sakarya – Meşeli – Beşevler Lagoon & Irrigation: Gross 1271 ha arable land will be irrigated by the lagoon of homogenous-fill type and 41 m in height from foundation.

Kütahya – Pazarlar - Orhanlar Lagoon & Irrigation: Gross 890 ha arable land will be irrigated by the lagoon of homogenous-fill type and 33 m in height from foundation.

Kütahya – Tavşanlı - Kışlademirli Lagoon & Irrigation: Gross 578 ha arable land will be irrigated by the lagoon of homogenous-fill type and 40 m in height from foundation.

Bilecik – Söğüt - Savcıbey Lagoon & Irrigation: Gross 141 ha arable land will be irrigated by the lagoon of homogenous-fill type and 27 m in height from foundation.

For the lagoons for which Preliminary Study Reports are available, the planning report will be prepared individually. Planning studies will be performed at two stages.

1. Interim Reports

Studies on determining the types and capacities of contractual structures and defining the project formulation will be performed at this stage, and results of studies will be compiled in the “Planning Interim Report”, which will be submitted to DSI. Detailed planning studies will be proceeded with if the proposed project formulation is agreed by DSI. Hydrology Planning Reports and Agricultural Economy Interim Reports for lagoons will be approved at Interim Report stage.

1/1000-scale digital maps will be prepared for axis sites and reservoir areas of the storage structures studied at planning stage. Engineering geology investigations, including borehole drillings, will be performed on project structure sites and in natural construction materials borrow areas.

2. Planning Report

Planning studies will be proceeded with after “Interim Reports” and proposed project formulations are reviewed and agreed by DSI, and the formulation selected by DSI will be taken as basis to planning studies. Land classification and drainage services for lagoons and irrigation areas will be studied at planning level and a Planning Report will be prepared for each lagoon. The “Engineering Hydrology Report”, “Agricultural Economy and Land Acquisition Planning Report”, “Engineering Geology and Natural Construction Materials Planning Report” as appendices to planning report and the “Land Classification & Drainage Report” at planning level will be prepared further to the Project Introductory File or EIA Reports to be prepared on the basis of EIA studies.
