River Basin Management Plans Preparation Project 10th Steering Board Meeting was held. 19 September 2017
“Conversion of River Basin Action Plans into River Basin Management Plans” executed with financial support of European Union started on December 29, 2014. Purpose of the project, of which duration is 3 years, is to convert River Basin Protection Action Plans (RBPAPs) into River Basin Management Plans (RBMPs) in accordance with the EU Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC) and the related daughter directives, and to increase national water capacity of Turkey.
River basin management plans for 4 basins (Meriç-Ergene, Susurluk, Konya and Büyük Menderes) are prepared under the scope of this project. Integrated management approach is the basic structure for River Basin Management Plans. These plans approach the basin as a whole and all issues effecting water management are evaluated.
10th Steering Board Meeting of this project was held on September 14, 2017, under the chairmanship of Director General for Water Management, Cumali KINACI. 18 stakeholder institutions and organizations including mainly Delegation of European Union to Turkey, Ministry for EU Affairs, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Health, Central Finance and Contracting Unit, General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works participated in the meeting.
At the meeting, participants were informed of the activities performed within the last 3 months, and activities planned to be performed within the next 3 months.
