Brief Description of the Project:

The project areas are located in Kelkit and Köse sub-provinces of Gümüşhane province, in Çamoluk sub-province of Giresun province and in Bayburt province in the Black Sea Region of Turkey.

Project structures are as follows;

Gümüşhane – Kelkit Örenbel Lagoon and Irrigation: Rock fill with clay core type lagoon, 40 m high from foundation, to irrigate arable land of 179 ha.

Gümüşhane – Kelkit Söğütlü Lagoon and Irrigation: Rock fill with clay core type lagoon, 38.50 m high from foundation, to irrigate arable land of 264 ha.

Gümüşhane – Köse Oylumdere Lagoon and Irrigation: Sand-gravel fill with clay core type lagoon, 51.60 m high from foundation, to irrigate arable land of 344 ha.

Giresun – Çamoluk Karadikmen Lagoon and Irrigation: Rock fill with clay core type lagoon, 44.50 m high from foundation, to irrigate arable land of 104 ha.

Bayburt – Provincial Capital - Cayırözü Lagoon and Irrigation: Rock fill with clay core type lagoon, 35.50 m high from foundation, to irrigate arable land of 160 ha.

Planning studies are carried out in two phases;

1. Interim Report

Studies are performed to define the types and capacities of contractual structures and determine the technically and economically optimum project formulation. 1/500-scale mapping on lagoon axial sites and 1/1000-scale mapping in reservoir areas are performed. The “Engineering Hydrology Planning Report”, “Agricultural Economy and Land Acquisition Planning Report” and “Engineering Geology and Natural Construction Materials Planning Report” and “Land Classification and Drainage Planning Report” are prepared.

2. Planning Report

Bill of quantities and cost estimates are prepared on the basis of formulation agreed by DSI following review of the Interim Report, and dimensions are finalized on the basis of optimization studies. Efficiency and internal rate of return of the project are based on economical analysis. Piped irrigation network in defined irrigation areas is planned and planning report for each lagoon is prepared on the basis of results of technical and economical feasibility studies. For natural construction material areas, EIA Project Introductory Files are prepared and Certificates for “No EIA Is Required” are obtained.
